And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” - Galatians 4:6
In Genesis 1:27, the Bible states that God created human beings “in His own image.” One similarity is our triune nature. God comprises three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Similarly, humans possess a three-part nature consisting of heart, soul, and strength. We each have spiritual, mental, and physical capacities. However, sin corrupts our souls, leading to the decay and death of our bodies and affecting our mental abilities over time. Since God's essence is spiritual and eternal, all people are born disconnected from Him, presenting a significant problem.
“God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son…”
How do corrupt people connect with a holy God? How does a mortal connect to immortality? How do the dead connect with life? God sent the Spirit of His Son. The scriptures describe God sending His Spirit to address our spiritual emergency. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all involved. Where the text says that “God has sent,” it refers to the Father. Yet, the text refers to the Holy Spirit as “the Spirit of His Son.” The Holy Spirit is Jesus’ own Spirit. The Spirit functions as a distinct aspect of God’s triune nature, yet He remains perfectly unified with the Father and Son. This is how Jesus was “conceived by the Holy Spirit.” This is why people saw the Spirit rest upon Jesus when He was baptized. This clarifies why Jesus said He would send the Spirit as a Helper. Jesus’ essence is made up of God’s Spirit. The Father and Son share a soul – the Holy Spirit.

“Into your hearts…”
God makes a special provision to create a supernatural connection with us. He performed a miracle by becoming a man to meet the righteous requirements of His standards on our behalf, as we cannot. He accomplished a miracle when He fulfilled the Father's promises, offering Himself on the cross and then rising from the dead. His completed work enables corrupted souls to be cleansed through the forgiveness He provides. His effort allows the dead to be raised in the likeness of His resurrection, transforming those who believe in His testimony into new creations. This is how God resides in our souls to change our nature and spiritual trajectory, COMPLETELY!
“Crying out, ‘Abba, Father’…”
The connection established by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit brings our once-dead souls to life. It allows God to see us as His children and heirs to His blessings rather than as His enemies, who are ultimately condemned to hell. This connection fosters a relationship that originates within our souls but expresses itself outwardly through every aspect of our lives, where we yearn for God’s presence and depend on Him for everything, just as an infant relies on their parents. This concept is difficult to grasp. This is why the miracle of God’s love is so extraordinary and beyond our understanding!
Prayer for today
Our heavenly Father, thank You for Your effort to unite Yourself with us. We don’t deserve this privilege. Nevertheless, we trust in the integrity of Your Word, Your Work, and the evidence You provide through Your Spirit. Help us express our gratitude by humbly relying on You, desiring Your presence and purposes above all else in life. We ask these things in Jesus’ name – the One who saved us from sin, death, and hell, to connect us to a greater purpose. Amen!
