The Triune God - The Incomprehensible Majesty of God - The LOVE of God

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? - Hebrews 9:14

The world is filled with hard workers. What is the true value of their labor? Do our efforts to accomplish tasks and fulfill ambitions genuinely satisfy the core of our being? If so, why do we continue to strive for more? If the effort we invest in our work, goals, and dreams truly satisfies us, why are so many people still yearning?

God is the only one who can satisfy the soul. This satisfaction comes only when our souls are connected to Him after we are "born again.” We can be “born again" only when we repent and believe in the testimony of God’s Word, specifically regarding the identity and work of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Messiah. As believers, God’s Spirit dwells in our souls, connecting us to Him and His eternal, spiritually centered purposes. When we begin using our lives for God’s purposes, our perspective changes, and we discover a new form of satisfaction. This satisfaction is truly a byproduct of a clear conscience. How is this possible?

“How much more shall the blood of Christ…”

Since Jesus is God in the flesh, His blood sacrifice produces extraordinary benefits with a transcendent effect. As YAHWEH, Jesus' blood possesses eternally self-existing and self-sustaining qualities, holding eternal value that influences the spiritual aspects of life. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and filled with the Holy Spirit in every moment of His life. Upon His death, the eternal Spirit of God presented the spiritual qualities of Jesus’ perfect blood to the Father as currency to pay the debt of sin! The blood of Jesus can resurrect and cleanse a dead and corrupted soul because it is the only thing that the Father values. This is why the righteous works of Jesus are the only offerings pleasing to the Father.

“Cleanse your conscience from dead works…”

Why do people do so much and still feel empty? Everything reproduces in its own kind. Sinners can only produce corrupted things, and corrupted things don’t fulfill them. Our efforts to satisfy ourselves always fall short because, deep down, we know something is wrong with our connection to God. We need to have our consciences cleansed so that we can stop trying to work through the guilt of our dissatisfaction. Faith in the power and value of Jesus’ sacrifice is the only way God will cleanse our conscience, filling us with His Spirit. When the Spirit directs our lives, the “dead works” that once defined us (which had no value) are replaced with God’s work to serve His purposes. God’s love is the work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to make us new in every way, teaching us that true satisfaction comes from serving His eternal and spiritually-centered purposes, separate from personal ambitions that hold no eternal value or meaning.

Prayer for today

Our heavenly Father, we are thankful for Your patience as You teach us about the things that are truly “good.” Thank You for cleansing our conscience. Now that we have been cleansed, help us separate from lives defined by “dead works.” Help us value things with the same eternal and spiritual perspective that You do, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
