Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. - Jude 1:24-25
No one is perfect. We all make mistakes, even as Christians. We all have plenty of imperfections that need to be addressed, which constantly cause frustration and problems for us and those around us. The power of God addresses this issue. God’s power is evident throughout our walk with Him as we strive to live according to His Word but still fall short. His power ensures that our flaws don’t condemn us, reaffirming our salvation until its completion! How can we be so sure?
“To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…”
When God exercises His power to protect us, He is not reactive to our failures. He is proactive. He doesn’t follow us around just to rescue us from the bad situations we’ve created. God keeps us from “stumbling.” Many assume this means God is supposed to keep us out of all trouble. That’s not what the text teaches. God knows we will trip up. He makes sure that we don’t crash down, falling permanently into hell. In this context, “stumbling” refers to our struggle to fulfill what was discussed in the previous verses. The text encourages Christians to be built up in faith, pray in the Spirit, keep ourselves in God's love, seek Jesus' mercy, and serve the spiritual needs of others. These are the fundamental traits of Christianity. The text assumes we will all struggle to do these basic things.

“To present [you] faultless…”
God has the power to protect us from lingering imperfections that could have eternal consequences and separate us from Him. Proverbs 24:16 states that even a righteous person will fall seven times a day but will rise again. How? Through God’s power! The strength He uses to preserve our souls is so immense that He enables us to keep rising to follow Him, despite the mistakes we make. In the end, we will STILL be faultless in God’s presence despite all our issues. Jesus will “present” us to the Father in a purified state. He will share His power to equip us to stand firm and be established without shame before the glory of the Father forever, regardless of our previous circumstances and despite our inability to perform basic Christian duties perfectly, ensuring that the power of His glory does not consume and condemn us.
“To God our Savior…”
This power can only come from God—El Shaddai. The text states that God is our Savior, which means that Jesus is God. He must be God to preserve our souls to this extent. The true power of Jesus is fully realized when He saves us, protects us to fulfill our salvation, and presents us upright and fully cleansed to stand in His glory. Jesus reveals His power to do these things while expressing the wisdom, glory, majesty, authority, and power to make it real. This is why knowing God’s power in this way produces exceeding joy. There is no other power like this!
Prayer for today
Our heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Your power to save and protect our souls instead of condemning us as we deserve. Help us to respond with gratitude, recognizing that we should not intentionally continue in sin so that grace can abound. We ask that our understanding of Your power would encourage and equip us with the boldness to proclaim these truths to a confused and lost generation before You return to judge as the Lion of Judah. We ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
