The Triune God - The Incomprehensible Majesty of God - The LOVE of God

And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice [was] like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory. - Ezekiel 43:2

What would you do if you saw a man glowing? What if you saw a man emitting light from within his own body? Would you run and hide? Would you stand frozen? It’s difficult to imagine, but this has happened in the past and will happen again in the future!

“And behold, the glory of the God of Israel…”

In Matthew Chapter 17, the Bible testifies that Jesus’ disciples Peter, James, and John saw Jesus “transfigured.” In other words, they saw Him in His glory, glowing! The scriptures explain that they didn’t know what to do. They were terrified. Peter offered an idea to honor Jesus while in a state of panic. While Peter was speaking, the Father interrupted him. They were consumed by a bright cloud. As the cloud engulfed them, a voice came from the cloud saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” The three men fell on their faces…

The Bible teaches that the glory of God has manifested to people throughout history in various forms, including a cloud, fire, loud noises, rainbows, earthquakes, and other supernatural events. The world hasn’t seen anything yet. Peter, James, and John would agree! Ezekiel 43:2 prophesies that the glory of God will return, but in a way that surpasses the prior transfiguration of Jesus. When Jesus came the first time, He concealed His glory except for the glimpse He provided to Peter, James, and John. He unveiled His true glory to them before accomplishing the work required to forgive sins. He went to the cross to die but was bodily raised in glory.

“And the earth shone with His glory…”

Ezekiel 43:2 teaches that Jesus will come again, but He won’t conceal His glory this time. When He returns, He will judge sinners who reject His offer of forgiveness. He will come back in the same flesh that was raised in glory, determined to shine even brighter than before! He will return to His people in Israel. He will destroy His enemies by merely speaking. The results of His judgment will illuminate the entire planet with the radiance of His glory!

How does light shine from a human body? How does the Word of God possess the authority to destroy and bless simultaneously? Who knows? It was too much for Peter, James, and John to comprehend. We’ll have to wait and see when Jesus returns. Still, the scriptures clearly indicate that this is how God will fulfill His eternal promises. The Father said it. The Son will do it. The Spirit confirms it in our hearts until the day it becomes real. We can rest assured that God will soon demonstrate just how wonderful He is, exactly as it is written in the scriptures, whether we understand how or not.

Prayer for today

Our heavenly Father, we acknowledge that there are many aspects of You that are difficult to grasp. You are indeed too complex to fully comprehend. Therefore, we express our gratitude. Thank You, Father, for the revelation of Your Word. Thank You, Jesus, for the fulfillment of Your Word. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for guiding and helping us in understanding what we can. Thank You for the promise of Your return – when the incomprehensible nature of Your glory will be revealed for our blessing. We eagerly anticipate that day and pray for its swift arrival. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
