The Almighty God - The Omnipresent God - The Lion of Judah
All the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and [among] the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?” - Daniel 4:35

If God isn’t as powerful as the scriptures claim, then why hasn’t anyone made Him disappear? Consider this. People have tried to disprove and silence God from the very beginning. Jesus was persecuted as soon as His public ministry started. The church faced persecution right after the Holy Spirit brought it to life. Yet, God’s Word and His people keep living and proclaiming the message that many thought died when Jesus was buried. The devil has opposed God from the very beginning. Has that caused God to vanish or stop His work?

“All the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing…”

World history shows the extent of God’s power. In Daniel Chapter 4, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, made remarkable statements about the God of Israel. God intervened in his life and proved His power by taking away Nebuchadnezzar's sanity; the Babylonian king came to understand who truly rules. Nebuchadnezzar declared that, in comparison to God, all people on earth are insignificant. This statement comes from the ruler of one of the most powerful empires in history! It was spoken by a man who believed he was so powerful that he built statues of himself for his people to worship. Yet, when God showed His supremacy, Nebuchadnezzar realized that nothing on earth has real power or worth compared to God.

A young man is grabbing his head and shaking it with motion blur, going crazy

“He does according to His will…”

This man acknowledged that God does whatever He desires in heaven and on earth. God constantly controls angels and demons. He has a purpose for both and always has the power to fulfill His plans for them. When we read about angels and demons in scripture, this truth is made very clear. God uses the same authority on earth. He does as He pleases with His creation, which includes nature, nations, and individuals. The story of the Babylonian Empire and King Nebuchadnezzar provides strong proof!

“No one can restrain His hand…”

The scriptures state that no one can stop God’s hand or question Him to change His plans. Has anyone ever prevented God from speaking? Has anyone throughout history prevented God from doing what He has declared? Has anyone stopped God from fulfilling His prophetic promises? Even when the Jewish religious leaders thought they were destroying Jesus’ ministry, they were actually fulfilling God’s predetermined purposes! This shows why God is Almighty. He holds this power both in heaven and on earth at all times, and He will continue to do so even more clearly when He returns as the Lion of Judah, fulfilling every part of His Word.

Prayer for today

Our heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us about the supremacy of Your power. When we see how people use authority and power in this world, we recognize it often leads to great problems. Thank You for the reminder that You remain in control, and regardless of the size or severity of injustices we witness, Your good purposes will be fulfilled. Help us to believe in You and trust You, no matter how we perceive our circumstances. Encourage us by reminding us that You use Your power for good – to defeat Your enemies and to bless Your servants. Thank You for calling us to be Your servants in Jesus’ name. Amen.
